Funeral/Memorial at the Kingdom Hall ... Would you go?

let's say an aunt or uncle dies.

.

let's say you barely knew them.. let's say their memorial service was held at the kingdom hall.. let's say if you attend, you have to deal with shunning from family and jws, and you are forced listen to them present their paradise promotional materials, and the dead person's "earthly hope™", and let's face it ... the heeby-jeebies of having to be in a kingdom hall again.. would you put yourself through it?

Each person, with their own experiences, personalities, will have their different reasons to attend or not to attend.

Me? Though I would never want to hear another "memorial"/ advertisement/ recruiting talk, something inside me would want to 1. Make a statement: "Here I am, you shun me, but I am not afraid 2. Face what you have done, you can't have your happy little JW world without thinking of what you did. 3. Maybe, just maybe, someone wished they knew, are hoping to escape and need the support. 4. To observe it as a matter of history.

What are they trying to hide

ok. we are all aware of the scandal around the non reporting of child abuse cases to the authorities by the elders and how it was part of watchtower policy.. this has probably been discussed before, which i apologize for now if it has.. the obvious view that most of us make as to why the gb are so reluctant to comply with the authorities by revealing their database around child abuse allegations, is that the leadership at watchtower hq likely were trying to safeguard the reputation of the organisation.. however, (just a theory) are they hiding something more sinister which could in effect devastate the organisation ie could it be they are hiding some things within the gb itself, whether it be some individuals within the gb of the past or even present who might have had some serious allegations made against them which the authorities are never going to know about?

i mean why the hell are they going to such lengths to hide everything???.

any thoughts?

Very true, Still Totally ADD, I have a non-JW friend who was abused her whole childhood, by many people. She also was threatened with 'death' if she spoke to anyone.

Only now, in her very late 30's, has she been able to face these demons, and speak about them.

I also wonder why the Catholics, JWs, Boy Scouts, etcetera's do not destroy records. Yes, it's 'illegal' to destroy records .... but so is child abuse. Do they know someone has kept a copy? otherwise what would make such morally depraved people from acting immoral?

i want to thank jehovah's witnesses new world bible translation committee for changing the words, "mentally diseased" as found in the 1984 edition of the nwt, to "obsessed with arguments," as found in 1 timothy 6:4 in the 2013 revised nwt.. on february 6, 2012, david splane, the overseer of the watchtower's writing department received an open letter from me which i posted below especially for new posters.

the topic of my letter was in response to the writing department's statement that ..."apostates are mentally diseased" in their july 15, 2011 watchtower.

the 1984 edition of the new world translation reads:.

We really do need to thank all of the activists who have worked so hard, and hung in there for so many years, in all their different ways to promote a change in our culture.

Writers, You-Tubers,website supporters for ex-jw's, people who post court documents, people who post past JW articles compared with present, people who post news articles, people who stand up to WT, and take WT to court.

ALL are a part of the change. We need a change, and need to support all of these efforts.

no really, its golden stuff.

i just listened to it and it contains an amazing interview with an australian activist who i only vaguely have heard of called steven unthank.

he is one of the best guests i've heard on that show, competing with the governing body helper they interviewed once.

Absolutely incredible! To learn what happened during the beginning of this whole Australian Royal Commission and Geoffrey Jackson, why the term "mentally diseased" disappeared out of the Bible, why there is no 'anointed class anymore, that WT said ... well, I won't give it all away....

But, without all of the work this man has done for years, we would not be where we are today with child abuse laws, and the exposing of the Watchtower.

What Privileges do you get when you are baptized ?

my husband was baptized at the recent 2018 convention in south africa ....... he was very annoyed that his non-believing wife did not attend the baptism....... but i think he received pressure from his jw father & elders as to why his wife was not attending ....... anyway ..... it's really water off my back .

i wanted to know what privileges you get as a baptized jw man , as i saw a message from one of the elders at his cong , congratulating him on his baptism and to earning more privileges ..... what are these privileges the elder is speaking about ,,,,, .

i don't feel like asking my husband as it just lands up in a stupid fight ..... or a long winded explanation ..... thanks .

The biggest danger... "child custody".

If he ever views you as a spiritual danger to himself or his child, and lots of people are doing it these days, he just might divorce you and sue for child custody and the right to "freedom of religion" for his child.

JWs worry constantly worry about Armageddon, and who will survive... especially their children. Unless their kids are baptized, or if too young "on the way to pleasing Jehovah", they are worried, and will do anything to save them. Really.

Carts on both ends of the farmersmarket

my wife and me have a booth at the local framers market.

there is usually about 12 t0 14 vendors each week on a small short street in town.

what is funny on each end of this short street are cart setups with 3 people on each cart.
